Support Karen because she understands the needs facing the residents of District I
Wheat Ridge is at a crossroads. We can continue business as usual and react to events as they happen. Or, we can rise to the occasion and meet head-on the opportunities of our changing city by investing in existing neighborhoods and infrastructure, carefully planning for the future, and building a healthy community we can all share.
Wheat Ridge can and should be a more vibrant, attractive city, with great schools, great neighborhoods, great parks and trails, and wonderful cultural opportunities.
With the completion of the Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy and the creation of WR2020, in 2005, we have made significant advances, but we can do much more, and do it more cost-effectively and in an environmentally responsible manner. The way we plan for change will greatly determine if we seize the opportunities and meet the challenges before us.
Greater opportunity and economic development lead to safer neighborhoods and a vibrant city. Moving to community policing and the creation of new economic development and streamlined code enforcement programs will help us meet these goals.
A shared sense of community is important to Karen. This starts with open, transparent government, and public participation in city decision-making. Solid infrastructure, safe neighborhoods, good schools and responsible economic development balanced with inclusive community planning that protects the rights of all residents are central to Karen’s goals.
